Bespoke glass doors/shelving

Morning all,

My wife and I have decided to use the fireplace space to store all the AV equipment ad then mount the TV (rather than putting a fire in).

What I am looking for is somewhere (store/internet seller) where I can buy some bespoke sliding glass doors of decent quality (with all the fixings as well).

Some glass shelves are also needed for the space (although these im more confindent in finding).

Have any of you come across such a seller, or used similar products?

Basicaaly we have a pretty much square hole in the wall, and I would like to mount 2 sliding doors that sit just in front of the wall, so need glass, runners & bits to attach the 2.

Cheers

Paul

Re: Bespoke glass doors/shelving

Obviously no one has any experience of sellers.

Are you any good at DIY? The only advice I could offer is to contact a local glass merchant (check your yellow pages). They should be able to cut the glass to the sizes you want if you provide a sketch. Then grind the edges to make them smooth. You should also consider having it toughened for safety. As for runners, I don't know of any suitable (apart from cheap plastic strips which never work well). You could consider having hinged glass doors. This usually requires having holes drilled in the glass (again , something your glass merchant should be able to do) but there are hinges which clamp on. If holes need to be drilled, this needs to be done before the glass is toughened. For glass door hinges (and possibly runners) try a company called " "Woodfit" (www.woodfit.com).

Hope this has been of some help.

Re: Bespoke glass doors/shelving

I bought made to measure sliding wardrobe doors to exactly fill an alcove in a bedroom from these guys: www.spaceslide.co.uk. Came with full high quality top+bottom runner kits for self-install, which needed two people but only because of the size.

might be worth checking if they will do something smaller scale for your needs.
