[Off The Fence]

Hi folks

Been looking around for a low, wide bench style cabinet in wood to sit a 50 inch plasma on in a window bay. Couldn't find one, so looked into getting one made up, which I did. Got to say, I'm more than happy with the result. It's a lovely, solidly made piece of kit (I was hoping to get my wife to help me move it, but she can't even lift one end ). Way better than any of the others I considered.

solidwoodinteriors.co.uk were excellent (fast turn around, good communication, great product & very reasonable price). Here's the pictures they sent me before they shipped it. It's 167cm wide & 44cm tall in 7cm thick wood.

Now all I've got to do it source the telly...

I have just had a delivery from solid wood interiors after much tooing and froing or emails and phone calls to get my unit just right. They were excellent - great communication, service and price.

We now have all our AV equiment behind closed doors and away from children's sticky fingers etc... Just have to sort out the IR extender now and an all in one remote...

looks very nice, but price seems a bit steep for pine, especially as there is no draws or cupboards involved - lovely all the same though

It looks fairly close in design albeit solid wood & probably heavier to the Opli which was under £50.

It's really solid & weighs a flippin ton (the wood's 7cm thick!)

I considered the Ikea units when I was looking around (particularly the Leksvik, but also the Oppli) but I'm so glad I didn't go down that route 'cos quality wise this things in another league
