Bookshelf/Shelving unit for AV?

Does anyone use a tall book shelf or shelving unit to store their AV equipment on? I'm looking for one around 900mm wide and 2000mm+ high but the one's I've seen are a bit flimsy, so looking for a sturdy unit that ruin the sound.

Want to store my equipment on the bottom 3 shelves and use the rest for dvd's etc to make use of an alcove. Any suggestions?

Why not just put the shelves across the alcove as you've already got the 'ends' of the shelves in place. It should work very well.

Thanks. Yep, that's one option I've thought of but I think I prefer the look of a free standing unit. Obviously, if there's not a decent one out there I'll reconsider.

The only Trouble with that is if the walls aren't exactly square then it can look a bit odd.
Try contacting a local carpenter or preferably cabinet maker to see what they can can do for you.

Good point. I may even buy a ready made AV cabinet for the floor then add alcove shelving above for the dvd's etc.
