Enclosed AV cabinet - advice?

I am looking to change my AV cabinet for something a little more subtle.

I currently have a two tier galss shelved rack, with alloy legs.

The bottom tier holds my Yam RX-V640RDS amp & Sony DVP-NS76H DVP.

2nd tier holds my AE Aesprit 307 centre speaker, then the top has my Tosh 32WLT66 LCD on, and a Thomson DTI2300 (for Setanta) & Soundbridge Homemusic.

I'd like to replace this with a low, subtle, solid fronted, dark wood AV unit. Preferably not more than 150cm wide.

I'll be mounting the LCD on the wall, and my centre speaker & probably the soundbridge would go on top of the unit.

That leaves the amp, DVP, settop box to go inside, also I have an XBOX 360 elite (newer 65nm model) which would be good if I could get that inside, but not compulsory. Would also be nice if I could have a little storage for DVD's, CD's, etc.

So, 1st question, is there anything out there that anyone can suggest off hand? Dark wood ideally. Maybe something with 3 sections that have the fronts open out, giving me space for amp in one section, DVP & settop box in 2nd, then maybe 360 and a bit of extra storage in the third? Or something similar!!!

Secondly I have a worry over heat. Mostly the 360, although it is one of the newer, cooler running versions, but also the amp. If I had an enclosed cabinet, would leaving adequate room around each component and removing the back of the unit be adequate for ventilation? If not I guess I could install some quiet fans to help move the air.

Thirdly, what would be best to do about IR? I don't know a lot about IR extenders. I currently use a Pronto RU890 to control everything so would continue to use this for now. Also would the 360's wireless controllers work with an enclosed cabinet?

You may want to at least have a look at one of these

Have one of the smaller ones and it just houses the the old style xbox 360 in the top "ledge" hinged door on front. All cd's dvds in bottom drawer. Like the built in infra red remote pass through, and overall look, just blends in, is about £500 notes though for the smaller size. As we have an older style xbox it is actively cooled, albeit temperature controlled, would probably get away with it on media center functions, but creates a lot of heat on playing discs and games.

Thanks, that's the sort of thing I'm after but perhaps not quite as expensive as that.

Hi you may like to consider something inthe Optimum Precision Range they are a very solid cabinet with a black lacquer finnish.

Don't forget to use the avforums discount code 422.
