Advice please on centre positioning

Im currently doing up my lounge (thats why its a bit of a mess at the mo ) and im having trouble finding a place for my centre speaker. Im having a coal fire put into the fireplace and stone clading on the brickwork and on the lintle. Im obviously going to have to put a shelf above the lintle and below the tv to stop the heat from getting to my bravia.

The only other place I can think of is above the tv on a bracket of some sort. I dont want the tv to be any higher so I think having it below would look odd and cramped.

What do you guys think?

Yeah I think it may well be cramped having it underneath the TV. I think you should give it a whirl above the TV ... can't imagine it would make a massive difference to the sound.
