Thanks: Gave 23, Got 8 | Question on setup
Ok guys, be gentle as this is my first attemot at any of this
Recently got myself the following kit:
Samsung LE32R88BD
Samsung HT-X30R
Serano SB800 Stand
Sky Plus
Nintendo Wii
XBox 360
Ok.....now my question is, obviously the TV is on top of the stand. The DVD player is on the bottom shelf. Then on the middle shelf is a Sky+ box, Nintendo Wii and XBox to somehow fit....
Obiovusly the 3 being on top of each other can't be good (can it?) - so can anyone see a solution to my conundrum?
Thanks for any replies, and like I said please be gentle this is my first effort |

The Wii could possibly go under the bottom shelf on the floor. Then maybe use the 360 as your DVD player instead of having the standalone player on the stand.
or buy a new stand
or buy a ps3 and connect the DVD player & 360 to a different TV.

And now I have read your post properly I feel like a bit of an fool. http://www.avforums.com/forums/images/smilies/uhoh.gif
Of course you cannot get rid of the DVD player!
Wii could still maybe go under the stand.
360 stood upright next to it or by a different stand

Thanks for the quick replies
Interesting points. Like the idea of the Wii under the stand (out of the way and all that!). Then it is just the 360. Really didn't like it on top of the Sky+ box for obvious reasons (moved it within 1 minute!)...can it be stood on it's side?
With regards the stand, needed something that would fit in with the black TV/DVD player/speakers so that is why that one (and plus managed to get a great deal on it). It is also the perfect size for where I have got it.
This is a real conundrum. At the moment it is all in the corner with the sub next to the stand but the sub could be moved to the other side of the room I suppose and the 360 stood next to the stand if it can be stood up....hmmmm

Tricky one mate.
Don't see how you're going to get all that on three shelfs. I agree that your best bet is to use the floor under the stand as an 'extra' shelf. Or stand the xbox 360 to the side. It runs so hot and noisy you might want to stick it out of the way.
Possibly double up the dvd and sky box. Depends how hot and how much vibration they generate together – not ideal I know.

G. | So is the 360 ok to stand on it's side? I guess running the Sky+ Box and the 360 on top of each other is not good at all I am right on that?

Sorry for delay in reply – been too busy.
Yes the Xbox can stand on its side no bother. As for stacking it and the sky box – I would advise against it as the Xbox is sure to run much hotter than your DVD or even the sky box and so would best be left on its own with a little breathing space.
