Software for cabinet design

Hi Guys,

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

I'm going to try my hand at making my own AV cabinet for my TV and other bits and pieces.

I'm trying to find out if anyone can recommend some simple software so that I can view the model in 3D. Maybe with the ability to add textures ?

I'm not very good with the complicated stuff so some easy to use software would be good.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Software for cabinet design

www.sketchup.com fairly easy to use and textures can be created or downloaded.

I'd second that, sketchup is great!

Easiest way to do it is to download a model someone else has already gone to the trouble of creating then alter it to suit.

Re: Software for cabinet design

Yeah Sketchup is great, I've modelled the flat I'm moving into after taking some extensive measurements and then I've modelled all potential furniture/AV buys so I can see if it fits. It's really easy to use once you figure it out.

I've even designed a shelving unit in it which I then took the measurements from the program and got the MDF cut to size

Re: Software for cabinet design

I have got some ideas into the program.

However, i'm having trouble resizing the models to fit onto the shelves.

Any ideas ?
