Centre Speaker Shelf attached to VESA mounts: Is There Such a Thing?

I helped install a new 50" Plasma at the weekend. We knew we were going to have one problem and that was the locating of the Centre Speaker. The Plasma is on a pedestal stand and this is positioned on an AV cabinet.
The Cabinet can't take the centre speaker and as the screen is not aligned with the wall (it's in the corner of the room), we can't get a shelf for the wall.

So my question is:
Does anyone out there make a device that can be bolted to the unused VESA mount boltholes that goes up straight and then provides a shelf that the centre speaker can be sat on?

I have seen an Omnimount shelf that can be used for CRT screens, but there isn't anything out there for a Plasma screen, where you don't have any depth of cabinet?

Re: Centre Speaker Shelf attached to VESA mounts: Is There Such a Thing?

I used some brackets from a Alphason stand to attach my centre speaker to the back of my Panny PX70 - as can be seen from the attached picture. It sits on top of the panel.

The picture's a bit fuzzy but I fixed one bracket with spacers horizontally to the plasma. I then fixed a smaller one vertically to the speaker giving it a slight tilt forward. I finally used a third small bracket to clamp the the two other brackets together.

I can't see any reason why a similar arrangement can't be handmade from made from wood especially if the main weight of the speaker is taken by the top of the TV.

There are also small stands available for placing a VCR on the top of TVs which might suit your needs.

Hardeep, thanks for that. The more I think about it the more it seems that there is a gap in the market, which menas I will probably have to come up with something myself.

I may try and get a sheet of metal, which would be the width of the Bolt holes for the VESA mounts and then make a fold in the sheet, to form a shelf. Drill two holes to pass the bolts through and spray the whole thing black.
I'd get some of that padding tape, so the top front of the shelf rests on top of the Plasma safely.
The tricky bit will be making the bend in the right place and making it straight! I feel a prototype coming on!

I really want a bracket for my Kef 200 also, it's going to take up a fair amount of space on the top shelf, I need that for two components.

I haven't made my own bracket up, but think that it would be the best way still, especially if you have a fairly hefty centre speaker.

Would just need to make sure that it is strong enough and wouldn't overbalance the screen, so would have to make sure that there was a secure way of doing it.
