Thanks: Gave 158, Got 80 | Require a shelf for projector
The above is my living room configuration with the area in red where I need the projector to be standing in order for the blue area (which is the projection) to be as big as I want it (the full wall). However, as you can see from the wall configuration where the red bit is, I'd need a shelf which is pretty customised with one half being deeper than the other half. It needn't be too hefty as the projector is very lightweight but, if possible, I'd like to have the shelf look inconspicuous as the projector is the same colour as the wall and so would be barely noticeable (especially with the de facto recess). As it is rented accommodation, I can't drill into the masonry and so what would be the best solution for wall-mounting to ensure the projector is secure?
And my final problem is that the projector needs to be angled downwards in order to project onto the wall and not the ceiling. Is it best simply to put a weight underneath the backend of the projector or is there a more professional solution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as to recommended materials/fixing.

I would just mount it in the ceiling, regardless of being rented, then plaster it up after as I don't see an easy way to attach the shelf without putting hols in the wall or damaging the paint otherwise.

Would it be obvious if I'd drilled in to the masonry an inch or so in order to put two struts in to hold up a shelf only to inject something (no idea what?) and then cover the hole with polyfilla when it comes to moving out?

Realistically, how possible is it for me to make one? If I were to buy a thick piece of glass (I can get it cut for free) and then two brackets with an inch/two-inch strut in the wall, would it be as good as buying a £100 unit? Also, how deep will I need to go into the wall to hold the projector up safely on walls which I believe are plasterboard with some brick behind (it's an internal wall in a newbuild flat). If I can avoid confronting the landlord about this issue, it'd be advantageous as the last time I tried to contact him to report a problem, two months of wrangling ensued.

How about making a box section plinth to the required height, painting it the same colour as the walls and just "tacking" it to the wall with small angle brackets?

The wall on which the plinth would be tacked has a plug socket and a light switch on it so it would like far from subtle.

I'll be keeping my eye out for a small shelf in the coming weeks, I guess I can afford to go up to about £75 for this or else wait until my next paycheck and up the price a bit. If nothing suitable comes, I'll get a sheet of thick glass and cut it to the shape of the wall, put two brackets in.
Also, where would be the best place to go for to get a 10-20mm piece of glass which I could then cut to shape? I think I'll just buy two independent shelf supports, fix them into the wall - one in the recessed part of the wall and one in the outstanding part - and then cut the glass so it will slide into both of the shelf supports and have a clean, straight front edge whilst fitting snugly against the wall. Like I said, I can get the glass cut easily and for free but I'm not sure where I'd be best off buying the glass from.
