Dark wood cabinet with 3 compartments, 3 drawers.

Hi Guys

I'm after a cabinet to house the equipment, away from the TV.

Something like this http://www.johnlewis.com/Home+and+Ga...4/Product.aspx would be ideal, but I don't think the middle compartment will be wide enough (for the Sky+ box).

I am waiting for a response from JL regarding the internal dimensions, but as it is made to order, not sure how long it will take.

Does anyone know of anything similar, apart from this size issue, to overall dimensions and look of this unit are perfect.

If not, may end up having to get one made.

TIA

Re: Dark wood cabinet with 3 compartments, 3 drawers.

Hi Patch04

Looks pretty good, but it might be a little to wide overall.

I'll find out from the company the internal dimensions, but at 180cm it may look just a little out of place. Probably 150 - 155cm overall width is what we are after, with internal spaces of 50/45/50 and a height of 15-18.

Excellent link though, thanks for that. Any others?

Re: Dark wood cabinet with 3 compartments, 3 drawers.

Looking for something similar I came across this one - 163cm wide

SL3160

I've just payed off my 32" Toshiba and have persuaded the missus that it's time to upgrade to their 42"X model

She's happy enough having seen a few 42 -60" models when we were in the Samsung store in New York on holiday recently. [Thanks to Samsung and their very comy leather sofas/surround sound/xbox360's/long sleek cabinets and some excellent HD feeds going through the sets - that's the way to sell TV's to potential customers ]

She insists she doesn't want it on the wall - [ too bad I don't now need to spend days wraggling wires and reinforcing my plasterboard walls ] - and that it must go on to a decent low wooden cabinet.

If I can find one that suits, I get the new TV

I'm narrrowing it down so far to these [ We also like the JL one you saw - I'm lucky that the 180cm wide units are what the missus is after].

Hope you find one that suits.

Regards

Homer

Re: Dark wood cabinet with 3 compartments, 3 drawers.

Just to add to the link I gave for the SL 3160 priced at £479 - I've just found it on sale in Germany priced £318
Even adding on the shipping of £62 that equates to £380 - almost a full £100 cheaper.

Rip off Britain is alive and well

chinesewhispers,

I found another unit which may be of interest:

Re: Dark wood cabinet with 3 compartments, 3 drawers.

Thanks for the replies so far, the last one from Homer may be of interest, but the others will not be, use of black and or glass is not desirable.

I'll keep looking for a bit, but am also going to try and find a good local carpenter. The John Lewis unit's central space is 33cm, not quite big enough for my Sky+ box. If only it was a little wider, it would be perfect. We love the look of it, it's just that dimension.

If anyone spots anything else, I'd appreciate hearing about, but I don't want to put anyone out.

Regards
