Question Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Can anyone recommend anything?

I'm trying to find something thats in black or brown/black(ideally) and is for a 37".

Ideally, I was looking for a cabinet style because it would be nice to house some stuff behind closed doors.... but its looking like I may need one of those glass/shelf style ones becaues I can't find a single thing to fit the corner of my room.

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Been looking myself - found this - Optimum tv-cnr/3

Empiredirect have for about 150 inc del. Can also be found in black. High St prices on TCR London are 200

Reason it's good is because really made with a corner in mind and best i;ve seen for the price

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

I spent months and months looking for something suitable. I finally found some ash furniture (sorry not particularly dark) excellent build quality - the pictures on this link do not do it justice. it is nowhere near as orange as the picture makes out, it almost has a grey tinge to it and is a nice hard wood finish.
I bought locally from a firm in Edmonton in North London, but found this image on the web.

Grafton Ash

made by a company called Grafton

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Cheers you guys! I'll have a look at home!

Next do a lovely oak jobbie but its about £400 (Cambridge series). Plus the bit where you stick your av units in looks a bit small and that + PS3 = fan noise to my head.

I really wanted a unit, but if I have to, I'll go glass stand. I've seen some which actually house your extention brick in the back of the unit hidden away. So seems alright to me.

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

I ended up with the stand on this post, very pleased, takes up no room and you can select from a choice of spacing to suit your kit.

Smallest AV stand that will hold 4 items?

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

The stand itself looks a bit narrow for my tastes. I'm ok to have something as wide as the 37"er that I have my eye on (920 mm) but its the depth aspect of things that worry me.

At the moment I have a 32" Sony Widescreen Silver affair (the models that were just about everywhere a few years back) on one of the stands that match it. Its a CRT and the LCD I have my eye on is only an inch bigger I think. I've also got two speakers on stands next to the TV. I'm hoping to transfer them to the new TV stand when I get it, freeing up some room either side.

I should really do some depth measurements to see how far back I can go.

I really wanted something for the PS3 to sit inside so that any fan noise that I do get, is quietened down by cabinet doors.

Budget looks like the £100 - £200 mark.

Looking like I'll go for another glass stand again though. That circular design I posted earlier was kinda ok.

This looks nice.

Has a decent 'piece of furniture' look to it:

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Right, I've found a few that I like now that should be just the right width and depth to stick in the corner of a room:

http://www.fyhl.co.uk/store/product_...oducts_id/1866

Good storage, glass fronts to cut down PS3 fanny fan noise.

http://www.standanddeliver.com/acata...BR1_100-B.html

Cheaper than the above, more compartments, still an ok width and depth I reckon

http://www.standanddeliver.com/acata....html#moreinfo

Not black, but again good storage and cover for the front.

http://www.johnlewis.com/Home+and+Ga...7/Product.aspx

Hoping this is the black version of the above

Now all I have to do is decide whether or not a unit like the above looks alright at an angle in the corner of the room. I can't see why not though.

Failing those, its going to be an Optimum black glass corner TV stand I think.

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Just came across this thread - thanks for the links.

I too have been looking at the ABR (1100) series. Has your research shown that it won't cause any airflow issues with the PS3? I'll only be putting a sky HD box in it - on the opposite side, so hopefully, they won't heat each other up too much.

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

I've got the ABR1100 its a great cabinet, well made and the black has a glitter finish .

However, there is no way you can run the PS3 with the door closed, I've done it once by accident and it go so hot you could have cooked a Pizzaand thats with a 120mm fan fitted to the back of the cabinet as well.

With the door down there's plenty of air flow, so the PS3 fans only ever get to the second speed.

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

For those interested in the Janke 3110 stand at £379 - it can be had for £252 [+ £62 delivery] directly from Hamburg.

Even with delivery, that's still a saving of £61 on the UK price.

Armondo Hamburg

Worth considering.

Nice.... but 1600mm is too wide for me.

Bummer about the other ones being too hot for the PS3 though, what a pain! Looks like I'll have to refine to open front.

From that site of yours:

http://www.armondo.de/index.php?ref=...onid%3D1335162

And this one comes in black!

http://www.armondo.de/index.php?ref=...onid%3D1335162

Quite a few on here actually. I'll have to have a sift through and see if I can find any english specs on the net. Also could do with seeing how much airspace they can provide for the PS3.

What a nightmare all of this is.

More edits:

Now this is very good for airflow:

http://www.armondo.de/index.php?ref=...onid%3D1335162

I'm not good at off the top of my head Euro conversion but the price sounds alright. And I'm assuming you could take the coasters off too.

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Right, this is the one that I like.

Now just trying to figure out if it''l look alright in the corner of my front room. As I say I have a 32" CRT in there at the moment with speaker stands too. The wall isn't flat because the chimney is on that wall and the CRT fits in the 'gap' to the left of this.

I'll stick a photo up to demonstrate because my question is, would you think this would look alright in the corner (kinda squeezed in a bit) or would you recommend a corner unit which is more triangular in shape?

Just stumbled across this one myself. Its just £120 delivered. Plus I'm visualising being able to slap my surround speakers on the left & right 'bits' which stick out on each side... will slap the middle speaker on my amp in the middle.

http://www.chaseavdirect.co.uk/ccp6/...V-CNR-3B-.html

I think this is what I'm going to go for because I don't want to get a bit of furniture that looks shoehorned into corner of my room, much as I'd like to have something like that.

Maybe furniture for house #2 when I ever get it. Along with my 200" UltraSED TV or something.

Isn't the ChaseAV bloke on these forums???

Re: Corner unit or shallow unit needed

Got this in the end. Matches the Philips 9632 perfectly!
Great build quality, quick to assemble. Fantastic for the price.
Great stuff ChaseAV too. The delivery bods forgot to put it on the van for the Friday I took off work (I wasn't bothered, meant I could sit around and PS3 all day long!) and they arranged for it to come on the saturday!

We are having the same problem. Having decided to buy the 37" Panasonic Plasma TV we just can't find a stand that we like. Most seem to be either too big, too small or won't go into a corner. I love the one in Next, but I haven't been able to see it in the flesh so I don't know if it will match the rest of my decor

http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/homeware/furniture/3/2

Panasonic do make a cabinet for their 37" Plasma but it's let down by the fact that it's very open, there isn't a cable management system at the back and the glass shelves are fixed on with really ugly grey metal fixings. You would think that for the price they would have at least made it more attractive.
