Thanks: Gave 924, Got 472 | Cantilever stand or wall mount pros and cons?
There i was last night trying to be all diplomatic with the wife about moving my center speaker up to sit in front of the tv (to enable a fat amp, hence a shift around). Main reason was that if she said ok to this i could go ahead and get the amp etc. So she turns around and says "ok thats cool, but why dont you put the tv on the wall" This comming from a woman that firmly believes tvs should be in a corner. After i got up off the floor, i started thinking about the pros and cons of wall mounting, hence the question, wall mount or stand?
Any advice etc would be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion it just HAS to be wall mounted , for some bizaar reason i think they look a better screen when they are, and when you get the tilt just right to your seating position (help loose reflections ) then hey presto loads of space on your stand for........... Your wife to put candles and Pot Pori on.. |

Cheers Dean
I am a bit worried about the candles and pot porrige i must admit Why do women insist on doing that
I suppose you`re going to advocate channeling in the cables too aren`t you The wall it`s going on has some sort of render that bends masonary nails so it aint gonna be easy lol.

As for wires..... Yes you would have to hide them imo, You could hire an angle grinder for the day (or borrow one), it would not take 2 mins to chop a little chanel (Should that be 2 n's or 2 l's )
As for masonry nails, never found a good one yet, iv'e always drilled and screwed just for that reason, is it a big Screen you have to put up ??

There are a few units around now that have a "wall" part to them to mount the plasma in with the advantage of all cables being hidden and absolutely no diy to do. The link below is just one example but there are plenty of nicer ones http://www.thisisfurniture.com/produ...ategory_id=111 |

But i have just realized that having painted, paterned walpaper that`s raised is now a huge pain in the preverbial ass. I do have a small grinder, but now am rethinking again. Maybe some of the d line trunking (not looked recently) might work. I will only have 2x hdmi leads to cover,

Papered wall hey... that's a lot better to disguise than smooth painted walls isn't it.....Maybe seems you have only the 2 cables a mini trunking could be used and a slither of wall paper stuck over it with some Extra Strong Border Adhesive type pva ... that would look great......

Hey Dean
Any view on the type/make of bracket to use? I`ve checked and this one will defo fit (so says the salesman), but he also said that the wall fixings are poor and suggested i get my own to give him his due. http://www.avrabbit.com/product-AVR-...mount-416.html
Back to the wires, i forgot the power lead so i guess the 30x25 d line should be fine. Can you think of anything else i should look out for?

Start from square one in what way ??
I was going to recconmend getting Anchor Bolts to attach your Bracket with, like this
I have always used these and have never had a problem <touch wood>....... they only coat about 75p - 90p each......

Square one as in cantilever stand But jesus it`s proving to be hard bloody work. Almost fond one that fits the bill, but it`s not deep enough. I need a three shelf cantilever with a min depth 45cms. And the only ones i can find are 43cms.
Madam has totally pooped the wall mount now, so this (or something really funky) is the only option i can think of.
