Hunting for a stand for my new LCD screen and found this...

Does anyone know if it would be OK to put a 40" Tv on a stand built for a 36" ?

Stand can carry 40kg and TV is 31kg.

Stand is 106cm and TV is 98cm wide

Surely be able to squeeze it on , my TV`s speakers...Sony KDL 40U2000 has speakers at bottom not the side and I am really limited for space.

It's a corner unit though so the 106cm is its longest side, the rear will be much smaller. Not saying you couldn't do it but if the thing broke and damaged your TV you would have a tough time with your insurance, maybe.

You have put an element of doubt in my mind now , none the less I have reserved it and am collecting today...sucker for punishment...looks like a cracking stand for the money.

I think with most of the weight being to the front and the TV being quite thin it might be OK? More worried about my kids knocking it over then the stand.

Did you order online because I think you'd have 7 days to change your mind and return it (online sales laws) but don't quote me on that . No harm in giving it a go, as you say it's a bit of a bargain so why not try it and see.

Just put it up this evening and it is perfect...bit of a bugger to put up .I hadn`t even taken the Bravia out of the box and it looks fab too

I have a Sony surround sound system on my old TV and would love to attach it to this (to watch "saving private ryan`s" opening 10 minutes for the 500th time)...a bit confused as to where to put the centre speaker though , it is rectangular in shape and would never sit on the top of the TV like it did on my old tv...any tips?

I think this is just the start , now on a mission to talk wife into letting me get Sky Plus , even better HD , pricy though.
