customising a stand?

Hi

I am thinking of buying either of these

http://www.fyhl.co.uk/store/product_...oducts_id/1974

Any ideas if it will be possible to add an extra shelf by having a new glass
created and then adding it in with supports?

The glass i will go for will probably be black - any idea how much it might cost?

Re: customising a stand?

I'd be very surprised if you could do it and have it look as good - let alone be strong enough with the glass providing the structural stability.
You might be able to combine two sets of parts to make another shelf but
If I were you I would keep looking for a unit that has enough shelves by design.

As a diy I wouldnt even bother. If its a uk made product you could ask the manufacturers if they could supply the additional componants, otherwise as AMc says look for something else

Re: customising a stand?

I asked the manufacturer but (As expected) they said they wouldnt do it as they wont have tested it it the extra weight - the extra weight is just for a light VCR and I am sure that it would support all 3 of my units - esp as i am NOT putting my TV on top of it.
