Any opinions on the Soundstyle WG4?

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for an AV rack for my LCD TV and related equipment.

I came across the Soundstyle WG4. It looks like the perfect size and I like the fact that the shelves are adjustable.

However, I can't find many photos of it and the (promotional) photos I have seen aren't of great quality.

Does anyone have one? What do you think of it? Do you have any better photos of it?

Thanks!

Re: Any opinions on the Soundstyle WG4?

Just a quick note Tunney. The stand is deep enough to fit my AV gear in (which tends to be bigger than hifi stuff) but I still found that when the cables were connected they pushed hard against the back panel. This was particularly an issue with my DVD player, as I have pretty inflexible component cables connected.

I ended up cutting holes in the rear panel (think it was just thin mdf) to allow the cables to exit directly, rather than through the central cutout. This was no trouble, and to be honest made the cable routing neater, but you should be aware you may need to do this.

The quality of the stand was excellent by the way. I could tell when assembling it that it was a cut above the usual self assembly stuff.

Glad you like my set-up!
Cheers,
MarkP

One last question - is it possible to leave the back panel off? Looking at the dimensions, my kit should be fine (the deepest component is my AV receiver at 417mm vs. the stand's 460mm) but I'd like to know my options if the stand isn't deep enough for everything to comfortably fit.

I think so but I'll have a look tonight to check. TBH though, it was no problem cutting extra holes where I needed to.

I'll let you know tomorrow....

Re: Any opinions on the Soundstyle WG4?

Hi,

Checked last night, and the back panel is moving freely up and down in the grooves at the back, so I don't see any problem with leaving it out if you need to. The unit gets its rigidity from the two solid sides held together by steel frames for the top and bottom shelves.

Again, it's really easy to just make any extra cutouts you might need. As I said, my av amp is very deep, but fits in. I just made a couple of extra slots to avoid tight bends on thick cables. This was especially with my dvd player. It's also a really big deep unit, and my Mark Grant component cables aren't the most flexible, so I made an extra hole.

Hope that helps,
Mark

Re: Any opinions on the Soundstyle WG4?

Thanks for all your help. I've ordered one now. Maybe Soundstyle should pay you some commission on this sale.
