Infrared OK through mesh rather than glass?

Hi,

After having decided to store my hifi equipment & receivers in an integrated cupboard, I was going to have glass doors but this would mean I would need to go for an elaborate fan-based ventilation system. Does anyone know if IR will happily work through metal mesh instead? I'm referring to the type used for radiator grilles am hoping this will solve my ventilation problem.

Cheers

Nas
