Does height of stand effect viewing quality

on a LCD set. will be buying the Sony KDL 40v2500 this week but not too sure which type of stand to get. My room size is an average 15ft x 17ft and I plan to have the setup in the corner. The distance between the set and the seating area will be approx 7/8 metres. should I get a low level stand for best picture quality or the normal level height stand (1000 - 1050 mm). The lcd panel is fairly big as it's a 40 incher, so I'm thinking if i get the higher height stand the panel will be too high and above eye level. Any pointers from people with experience with this please.
