Thanks: Gave 1, Got 2 | How small are the screws that came with my lcd tv wall mount?!?!?
hi, i bought a 32" lcd tv and it came with a wall mount- the screws for the wall mount are small, like "how the hell is that gonna keep a tv on the wall" small. about 4cm long and 3-4mm diameter. is this all it needs or should i be going to b&q for some bigger/longer screws?

On my Tosh 37WLT58 they where 2 cm long, use the supplied screws, any longer and they could go too far into the TV and hit something inside.

You should buy screws and plugs that suit your wall, if solid they should be OK with 6 of them at least, for cavity walls/stud walling you will need to purchase something more suitable.

My 32" LCD is mounted on a plasma bracket that can take about 70KG.
The coach screws that bolt it to the wall are 8mm x 75mm long.

Try screwing a small metal bracket low down on the wall using one of the screws - bet it will take your weight.
My 43" plasma bracket was held on a temporary wood frame (sorry height evaluation unit ) by six 1.25" 4mm screws - stayed up for six months, while we did the room that it was going to go in.

hi, the wall is definitely solid. the first 10-15mm the masonry drill went straight through, but i'm having trouble drilling through whats behind it. i mean real trouble. i can't drill through it. so its definitely solid enough.

If you still have trouble making a hole (it it takes more than say 30seconds to drill the hole), its likely you'll end up with an oversize hole - I'd be tempted in that case to move up to a larger screw or expanding bolt - as the hole needs to be tight for a small screw to work

i picked up some new drill bits today that happened to be sds. they had small indents along the end of the bit. i'm gonna use these with my drill (corded). i've drilled through brick walls before with this so thinking maybe the bit was knackered.
