Anyone used the SP4000B stand?

I've seen this stand on the Dixons site and as I was about to buy a 42" LCD from there I thought I'd get their stand with it.

Any experiences of it?

Dave

one thing to bear in mind...depending on how much other kit you have there may not be enough shelf space with this stand, especially if you have a centre speaker.
certainly try and get it by haggling a bit, I'm sure if your spending a few quid on a TV then its worth trying to get the stand for free/reduced though.(worked for me at currys)

good luck

Yeah I was thinking that about the center speaker. You get the stand for 1/2 price if you buy it with a TV anyhow so £75 is pretty good

Just in case anyone searchs for this in future, we bought the SP4000 B and it's a very very well designed stand. It goes together really easily and looks good when completed. The LCD is held on by two rather small looking latches but is very solid when locked in place.

All in all, recommended!

Re: Anyone used the SP4000B stand?

Hi. Am interested in this stand for my girlfriends parents. Was wondering how much space theres would be between the bottom of a 32" lcd and the top glass.
I ask because they have a top loading Samsung dvd/receiver combi.

Anyinfo you have most appreciated.

thanks, pixel

Post Re: Anyone used the SP4000B stand?

Word of WARNING ! ...............

I've had this stand [with floating arm] in place since August-06 and all seemed fine until earlier this afternoon when I noticed my 42" Philips LCD panel had 'dropped' down as I could see the panel mounting brackets appearing over the top of the screen.

On closer inspection I discovered that ALL four plastic/rubber mounting bushes had perished causing a loss of friction in the design fastening between the stand frame and LCD panel.

[see attached PDF for pics]

I called the store where I purchased the stand and luckily they had some stands still in stock and agreed to replace the mounting bushes for me.

I think this is a design fault and the bushes perish easily due to heat from the rear of the screen or the compressive force in place when the panel securing bolts have been tightened. Glad I saw this when I did - who knows what could have happened if I had ignored it ? Suggest you check yours out now if you have the floating arm version.

Has anyone else has had this problem ?
