Spike pads?

My new speaker stands have got spikes on there base and I need some way to protect my wood floor.
What should I buy, the proper pads (metal/plastic etc) or use a stonger base such as a stone slab etc with the spikes.

Cheers

You could put some small coins under each spike. Five pence coins are ideal.

I have seen these, but they seem quite pricey for what they are.
How much better would they be against the idea peterpatch had?
Do you know somewhere cheap to get them?
Cheers

Re: Spike pads?

what I did to protect our flooring was use some of wife's snapped bead necklace she didnt want (must have been summit I bought her in the past come to think of it) and pressed a bead on to each spike so points were covered. Looked ok and I couldnt notice any difference sound-wise. This was on wood laminate floor.

Re: Spike pads?

I went with the coin type method and I an happy.
I used a form of Blu-Tack to stick the discs to the spikes and then lower it into position and it worked a treat.
Hope that might be of use to someone someday
Thanks to the posters on this thread for there ideas
Cheers
