where to find push to open door catches?

bought all my IKEA stuff today, but couldn't find any push to open catches. They have some great ones that come with some of their units, but not separately.

I'm looking for something where I can push to open a door, then push again to close. The ones in the unit in IKEA were magnetic, and I think might have had a special hinge to help them open fully.

B&Q's website is rubbish, and google isn't helping too much either

BTW, the units are all pretty heavy, but desinged to be stackable (even come with pins to stop them sliding around.

But will I be OK removing the backs from at least half of the bottom unit to make room for my receiver? It'll have three other units stacked on top of it, each about 25Kg

Richard,

Screwfix do them. There's 2 types - an add-on latch, which you just fit to a door with standard (unsprung) hinges, or if the door has sprung hinges, you can simply replace them with these.

B&Q do stock the first type, but they won't be on the website.

cheers. Any idea what hinges normal IKEA cabinets usually have? I guess non sprung? and most likely a funny size so you can't use anyone elses fitments?

Richard, what cabinets have you bought from Ikea? If you can provide a link to the range I may be able to tell which hinges they have.

Re: where to find push to open door catches?

they were BESTA units. Using mostly Norum gloss white doors, with a stripe of tofta gloss red to coordinate with the new sofa thats on its way.

I found some magnetic push catches at B&Q so hopefully they'll be fine.

Although the sight of 22 IKEA boxes stacked in various places around the house is pretty daunting !

In case others are still looking, there appears to be a large range here:
Tutch-Latches & Pressure Catches, SDS London, Architectural Ironmongery

Re: where to find push to open door catches?

I have used these on kitchen units for my av setup and you dont need special hinges as they are strong enough to open on there own and if you units are besta they will fit nicely

IKEA | Bookcases | BESTÃ…/FRAMSTÃ…/INREDA storage system | BESTÃ… | Push opener
