Stands on wooden floors?

Hi,

I have bought second-hand a pair of stands for bookshelf speakers. The base is square and metallic; there is a round, lead-filled column and a square metallic base for the speaker. They have (removeable, I guess) spikes at the base, which are fine for my carpeted home.

However, new home has wooden floors; do I just remove the spikes, or will the stand not balance well? Is it advisable to use those sticky, felt type add-ons for chairs? What do people do?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Stands on wooden floors?

I use 2p pieces under each spike.

Saves the floor from damage and comes in at a wallet friendly 16 pence.

May not be the best solution but I'm willing to bet it's the cheapest.
