My design for a AV stand

Well, after playing about with Sketch Up, come up with a design for a cabinet/stand for my equipment - sizes have yet to be finalised, but here is what I have come up with.

Looking at getting this done by Yorkshire Pine at Sowerby Bridge who make them out of solid oak or other materials

Any comments or suggestions will be welcome

Cheers

Lawrenso

Hope the attachments work ok - first time I have done it

Hi Lawrenzo,
Make sure you leave the backs open and plenty of space between the shelves, things will cook if you don't!

I agree with Knightshade that you should leave the back open. Your design looks good. I'm not sure about the practicality of the DVD drawer but it would make a good remote control storage area.

Looks similar to a stand I got from a local shop here. They had it made to my sizes.

Apologies for the TV. It's next to go as soon as I can find a flat panel I can actually watch. (not a fan of LCD or plasma)

As stated before - that looks pretty much perfect size wise for what I am after - would be interested in knowing how much you paid?

This is the post that I first seen Yorkshire Pine in - Custom Built AV Stand

Give them a bell, download SketchUp from Google (free) which does 3D rotating diagrams and do your design (even has things for dimensions on it - it is really easy to use - see attachment below). You can then export it in JPG as a flat 2 dimensional image for emailing to them.

Apparently, they have made several cabinets for Forum members since that posting above and have delivered them nationally - Perhaps we should prompt Stuart into seeing if he could get them to do a power buy!!

The stand was a design they already had (more or less). All I did was specify the spacing between the shelves and the overall width height and depth.
There were options for different woods. Mine is antique pine. The retail price was £420 inc VAT.
There was also an option to have it made of oak but the cost was somewhere around £900.

The cabinet was made somewhere in England and shipped up here. Took approx 6 weeks.

The shop is called Omni furnishing in Edinburgh. http://www.omnifurnishing.co.uk/
They don't have anything like it on their website but they will know which rack you mean if you phone them.
