Would this be safe ??

Hi,

I am need of a corner tv unit to house my av kit. The stand that i have seen that would be perfect has a max weight of 60Kg.
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...umber=70045482
I know that i would be going over the recommended weight i just wondered how set in stone these guideline are.
If not could anyone recommend an alternative i would prefer wood(MDF) and space is limited and it would need to go in the corner. My Kit Is Listed Below. Thanks for looking.

Toshiba 32" CRT 56Kg
Denon AVR 3802 16.5kg Would sit on the bottom left shelve
Video Player
DVD Player
Sky+ Box
PS2
Egg Center Speaker

Re: Would this be safe ??

I'd be surprised if it wouldn't hold it.

Just set it up then sit on it and jump up and down a bit. If it holds you it'll have no problem with the kit.

The max weight has a safety factor built in so it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Would this be safe ??

I'd agree, take care when assembling, add glue to joints where they may need extra support. You may need an extra support under the bottom shelf in the middle to stop it sagging once fully loaded. I modded an IKEA unit for my set up with extra castors in the middle which is absolutely fine.

regards

Re: Would this be safe ??

AFAIK, the max weight quoted for AV stands is normally per shelf, not the total for all shelves.
Since your TV is less than 60kg, it should be OK.
