kiddie proof furniture

Im sorry if this has already been covered but im in dire straits.

Ive just recieved a spanking new lcd 32 jvc dx7 (through insurers)

My 18 month son decided to drop my older high spec jvc crt to the floor and that's what i got offered (bonus eh?)

Anyway i need a cabinet / tv unit of some sort for my lcd but am having trouble finding one high enough!

All the ones i have seen are so low my son will just do a repeat! I caught him yesterday trying to race his cars over my lcd!

Anyway any help would be very much appreciated, my budget is between £50-100.

Please help!

Note: Following has to housed too, x box, dvd pioneer 313, video recorder, and ntl box (samsung)

Have you tried Tamezepan? That'll keep your gear safe.

Seriously though, why not get a wall bracket for the screen and mount it high up?

because you dont have a wife like mine!

Apparently it would look too big on our chimney breast and its too high to watch movies!

(i have tried the "but its just a big picture frame thats continuously changing" line but it hasnt worked)

One of these?

It's what we have - doors lock to keep little fingers off my toys. I guess you would need to secure an LCD - my CRT weighs >70KG and I don't think my little one could get enough leverage to dislodge it.

Thats what i'm after no more than 102cm wide and about that height, to go either side of fireplace alcoves.

Only prob is it's not the best looking cabinet, but matches dimensions. Can't win.

Agree its not the prettiest thing. I figured it would do until she was old enough to be taught how to use everything sensibly when nicer, more expensive furniture would be an option.

Long term plan is to put everything out of sight completely (possibly into the basement) with infrared remote repeaters for control - but I haven't got the time to sort that out now.

If you don't mind MDF and you want something custom but affordable then look at www.jali.co.uk - what I used in the back room for cupboards and bookshelves either side of the fireplace. Looks a treat and about 1/3rd of the cost of a carpenter round my way

I am going to buy one of these when i get a new lcd.
could you answer some questions for me ?
1 did you have to make any modifications ie air vents or cable outlets ?
2 how does it handle the weight of your crt as mine weighs the same ?
thanks in advance for your help.

I seem to remember an old post where this was suggested. It looked quite good with two units placed side by side.

Say the TV might fall on the child so you HAVE to wall mount it or you might stain the floor.
