5 shelf stands

Hi All,

I'm currently looking to get a 5 shelf silver/glass AV rack to hold the following:

Amp, DVD, SkyHD and due to 436XDE the media box and plasma

as an interim measure until I move house and wall mount the plasma. I have shortlisted the following:

http://www.henleydesigns.co.uk/mr5.asp

http://www.standanddeliver.com/acata...r_OPT-660.html

However, has anyone got any other reccomendations or experience with either of these two racks?

Or am I mad and 8mm or 10mm glass shelves will not support a 30Kg plasma (and desktop stand)

Thanks in advance

TobyAnscombe, the two links you show there are both hifi racks and are therefore unsuitable as stability will be an issue.

What equipment do you have and as 5-shelf AV stands are unusual / expensive do you definitely want a 5-shelf one.

Most AV stands will take 2 components side by side, does this reduce the amount of shelves you're looking for?

I've done a fair bit of AV stand shopping recently so I may be able to help.

Regards,

Dan.

I've gone for a Futurestands GEM setup http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/2249

Compromised to 4 shelf (stack the 436XDE media box and SkyHD). The plasma screen will only be on top for the summer as we are moving house and eventually want the screen on a wall (not a great idea in a rented, plasterboard house!)

The Gems give me the flexibility that I want and will support up to 50Kg per shelf, so weight shouldnt be an issue...

Would be interested to see what you went for

Toby,
What size plasma are you going to put on it? It's not weight that'd be an issue, there may be a stability issue though with a large LCD on a small stand.

Dan.

Oh, I went for the Partington Minim AV Rack. Classy product

£400 for the rack you chose is quite a lot for this product. Still, looks quite nice though.

Ah! I didnt say that I was paying full price...

Pioneer 436XDE is the beast of choice on a Pioneer stand. I know that it might be a bit dodgy but as I said - as long as it lasts me 6 months without falling over then I dont care.

I was going to get the rack anyway as all my AV stuff is bunched in a corner at the moment with not enough air getting to it - now I can stick it on semi (so as not to get burgled) display.

Cheers for the advice though -thought that this thread had died...
