Quick speaker/stand contact question

I've got some new speakers ordered, Mordaunt Short Avant 902i, and they're going on Atacama SE24 stands (which are ~70% sand filled and on floor spikes). Unlike my current Eltax Monitor 3 speakers, the new Mordaunts have flat bottoms like most speakers, so what's the best way to set them up on the stands?

Seems there's 3 options -

1 - just placing them on the stands
2 - using blu-tac to stick them down securely
3 - get the top plate spikes for the stands

I don't think the stands will resonate much with the sand in them, so is it worth using spikes? Option 1 isn't secure, option 2 + 3 could cause a bit of minor damage to the undersides of the speakers. Which option will get the best from the speakers though?

Cheers,
Simon

Use blu tack. it holds securely and wont damage them.

You cant use option one as they would probably fall off eventually.

Could screw them to the stands. Then theyd be rock solid

I'd agree with the above, blu-tac is what i use and does the job very well imo.

I've found double sided carpet tape works really well. You can get a reel for a couple of quid at B&Q. I just put two small strips on the stands, then placed the speakers on them. Makes them a bit more secure than just blu-tac, but doesn't damage the speakers like screws.

I'm in the same boat, just about to decide how to 'attach' my M&K speakers to my stands.

LOts of people suggest Blu-tac. So how much do you use on each speaker? Just a small blob in each corner?

Just a small amount in each corner and press it down. 1 in the middle if necessary. In some cases (if it's left in place for a long time) it may take the finish off the veneer or even the veneer itself off. As it's the bottom of the speaker it doesn't really matter though.
You can get the top spikes for the Atacama's (I use them) with a blob of blu tack to keep them located firmly. You could go down the route of Sorbothane isolation feet which work well or Something like the Nordost pulsar point (a bit steep at £50 for 4 but they do isolate well.
