CD/DVD Rack - Solid wood

Hi guys, looking for a cd/dvd rack to go in the alcove, as mentioned ideally I would like it made from solid wood and to have some character. I have looked at the Jali webiste but not sure if that is thr right way to go.

I don't mind it looking like a bookshelf as long as the shelves are the right height. At the moment the majority is CD's, dvd collection is growing slowly.

Anybody know where I can get one made. Found what I thought was suitable http://www.strossoakcdcabinets.co.uk/ but had no reply from them so I dn't know if they are still trading!

Cheers

Try here:

http://www.touchwoodfurniture.co.uk/

They have a showroom in Mansfield Woodhouse and can make whatever you want. They're currently making me an oak hifi unit. Very helpful and the quality of the workmanship is superb.

Just dropped them an email, could be useful depending on the stain.

Thanks for that.

Try info@audiodestination.co.uk. I'm in the middle of replacing my cd racks with some of their range.

I went down the DIY approach, but still produced something looking pretty cool.
Basically I just got a couple of white metal shelving strips and bunch of the small shelf brackets that slot into them. Check out the detail in the corner of the image attached to see what I mean. The shelves were just come floor boards, chopped into thirds, sanded smooth and varnished.

Overall, very cheap and effective. Everything came from B&Q; floorboards were about £10 for 5, (2.5 metres long each). Brackets and frame were the smallest they did, to keep that bit descrete, think they were about £1.50 each (used two per shelf), the frame about £4-5 each (just used two). If you have the shelves wide you may want more than two supports per shelf.

Of course you could treat and colour the wood as you like. It was this part that took the time. Then you could space shelves as you like for CD's, DVD's, Boxsets etc.
