Solution for small space and no wall hanging?

Hello! :D

I'm planning on buying a 32-inch LCD very soon.

Although I have a problem, which is the room it is going in. I plan to have it in a bedroom, the bed is facing a plasterboard wall and there is only 18 inches between the end of the bed and the wall.

Obviously I will be needing about half of that space to manoeuvre around the bed.

The room cannot really be reorganised, since a lot of things fit snug and will not fit any other way round.

I don't even think a ceiling mount would work either.

So, question time!..

Is there any solutions for hanging on a plasterboard wall? Are there any super-slim stands?

Thanks in advance!

Hanging anything of any weight on plasterboard is always precarious, especially when you put a hefty price tag on what you are hanging.

You have to use plasterboard plugs, these are metal screw holders that have a hefty thread on them. You then screw a screw into the middle of these blighters which grip very well.

Personally I would create a wooden frame to anchor any weight to, and attach this frame to many plasterboard plugs. Even testing this frame with homemade weights before putting your screen on it.

You could see if you can find the struts which the plasterboard is attached as a good point.

Get some proper advice though, and make sure you do it right !

Thanks for the excellent reply!

The father-in-law is a builder, and freaked out when I asked him about it.

I haven't had good experiences with plasterboard plugs and I don't think I'll ever hear the last of it if it all went wrong, & the wrath of the other half as well!

I think this one is gonna be a tricky one to figure out, if at all!

I'd cut away the plasterboard and fit some extra woodwork (noggins) between the existing studwork. Place these extra supports so that they line up with the fixing holes for a wall-mount bracket.
Fit a new piece of plasterboard over the woodwork, and skim with plaster. Fit the wall bracket in the pre-determined position.
