Advice on Castors for AV Stand

I have a 36" Sony CRT (weighing 90 kilos) and AV equipment (centre speaker, amp, dvd player, sky box, VCR etc). Now I got an opportunity to buy a 4 year old optimum 2000 AV 4 stand (4 racks) for £200. It is in very good condition. Firstly is this a good price or have I paid too much?

Secondly, I have carpet in my room and so it would not be easy to slide the stand and move it if I needed to do so for any reason. Is it worth spending £60 on heavy duty castors from Optimum towards achieving this? Would like to get opinions.

Thanks in advance,
Neel.

Now I am even more confused. I called Optimum yesterday and they said that they wouldn't recommend putting so much weight on castors. They are now saying some customers use furniture castor cups and they can slide on carpet. Does anyone do this? How do people move their av stands with all their gear on?

Looking at the design, I wouldn't fancy moving it on castors, over carpet, with a 36"CRT on the top.

Castors don't really work on carpet - they dig in the pile. If you try and roll them, you have to get the wheels to lift out of the ruts. The movement will "snatch", and will stress the glass shelves. I realise that the shelves are rated to carry a lot more weight than your TV, but that is for a static load. The snatching as you move the stand will increase the loading substantially, maybe cracking the glass where the legs fit through.
You could even end up tipping the whole lot over.

Cups are a better idea, as they will move more freely/evenly on carpet (the larger contact area reduces resistance).
