A Callenge

I'm looking for an AV cabinet. I have a whole load of crieria which I haven't been able to match - I wonder if any of you guys can suggest something.

(i) Must be light oak (solid or veneer)
(ii) No exposed metal joints (i.e. not Ikea type)
(iii) Suitable for 4 pieces of kit (1 AV receiver and 3 standard size)
(iv) Width - at least 1000mm. Height - no more than 490mm
(v) Prefer open front rather than doors

Any ideas

Cheers,

Nigel

try this

http://www.argos.co.uk/ProductDispla...Number=6139607

i've got that cabinet in the above link, a few cm higher than you are asking for but i'm am impressed with the build quality and finish for the price.

the draw can be removed and the internal runner taken out when building so would make ample space for 4 pieces of kit.

i've got a 45kg tv on top and no signs of weakness what so ever.

top buy in my opinion.

Yes I saw that one yesterday. Looks interesting but the height is a bit of a problem.

I have a wall mounted centre which is half way between my current unit and the plasma.

With this unit, the speaker position may look odd. I could consider moving the speaker but would want to exhaust other possibilities first.

Also this unit is rather deep. Its almost 13cm deeper than my current unit.

Cheers,

Nigel

Knightshade

That sort of thing but with four bays.

The decoration would not suit my room (just need plain oak) but that is just down to personal taste.

Where did you get it - or is it handmade.

I've considered making something myself but I don't think my woodworking skills are good enough.

Cheers,

Nigel

Try these people:

http://www.touchwoodfurniture.co.uk

I've just placed an order for a solid oak cabinet to my own design (double-width, semi-hinged top for turntable etc.). They're based in Mansfield, and have a showroom where you can see the quality of their stuff (second-to-none IMHO).
I found them very helpful and I can't wait until it's delivered. Also, they are able to deliver nationwide.
When I have the cabinet I'll post some pics.
