Extra Wide Cabinet

Sorry, title should be "Extra Wide Racks"

Looking to put my Pioneer 506XDE Plasma (30Kg) on it's stand (10Kg) on a cabinet. Not fussy over weather it's a perpose built Alphason or a makeshift cobbled together Ikea unit.

The problem I have is that I have also bought a Yamaha YSP-100 (16.4Kg, 115cm wide, 15cm deap) which I was hoping to house on the same stand.

Nothing I can find seems to have made allowances for the Yamaha's extrordinary length. I'm pretty sure I can't just stick on the top with the screen without obscuring my beautiful plasma.

Is there any hope for me?

The bigger Oppli from IKEA is wider than that at 150 cm.

Plenty of happy owners around here...

Thanks for replying AMc, was begining to think no-one could think outside the rack. Alas the favoured Oppli has already passed through my mind. I'm a little cautious to use it as fitting the speaker in I'd have to remove the internal support struts. I don't know how important they are to the cabinet's strength but I'm guessing "very".

If I did go down the route of using the Oppli, or two stacked (it does look good, judging from some of the images posted) I'd need to employ a carpenter (or my Dad) to do some serious modifications to it.

American Firm, Bush Furniture (unfortunate name) has a perfect solution for a fair price $400+. Sadly they don't supply to UK yet.

to give you an idea of what I'm after.

Wah, lucky me. I've just ditched the old tape measure before it does more DIY damage. Turns out that the speaker is only 105cm. So I can use the Alphason AD3/105 after all

Oh, and I just got a pay rise, so I can afford it now

I'm also stuck with the same dilemna; I want something around 150cm wide and every damn rack I look at is 110cm give or take a few centimeters.

I have 6 things to put on it so I need a unit wide enough for three pieces of equipment like so:

____________________________TV______________________________

____X-Box________________Amplifier______________DVD Player__

__SKY+ STB____________Center Speaker_______________VCR______

I too have just been down to IKEA to look at the OPPLI but the central space is only 45cm wide and my center speaker is 48.5cm. I'm tempted to try making exactly what I want but I fear with my almost non-existant carpentry skills I will end up with something which looks decidedly home-made.

What I don't understand is why there aren't any racks out there with the dimensions to hold the equipment above. Which of those things does the average person spending £2,000+ on a TV not have? I would have thought it was the standard equipment set for any home cinema enthusiast. I'm nearly ready to get rid of my VCR but even if I put the X-Box away in a cupboard (I never use it anyway) it would look stupid having the center speaker off to one side.

Well, I got tired of looking and settled for an Alpason AD3/105S. It's about 118cm wide, 105cm inside the support columns which is good for two pieces of equipment side by side. I had to settle for having my centre speaker offset to one side and stacking the XBox 360 on the VCR ad the SKY+ box on the DVD player but it doesn't look too bad. I wrote to Aphason asking why they didn't make stands big enough to house the equipment most AV enthusiasts have without stacking and have had no response as yet. My new set up looks like this:

___________________TV_______________________
SKY+ STB
_______DVD________________Center Speaker__
XBox 360
____Amplifier__________________VCR________
