Sand filling Atacama SE24 stands

Hi,

Just wondering how much sand to put in these stands? (the 60 cm high ones) The column is very thick and they'll take a substantial amount of sand by the looks of them, which would make them probably three times heavier than they are now

If I can just half fill them, that would be far preferable, but my main priority is to get the best sound out of them. At the moment totally empty they obviously resonate quite a bit.

So what percentage filled will give the best sound, and does anyone know roughly how much sand that would take?

Cheers,
Simon.

Depending on the speakers anywhere between 1/3rd and 3/4s full. If you have heavy speakers then you may get away with slightly less.
I have 60cm Atacama stands and they are 3/4s full with 2 1/2 tubs of Atabites I guess that would equate to about 15kg of sand per stand (If you have expensive wooden flooring get someone to help you position the stands afterwards..... Quite surprising how big a hole they can make.)

The speakers are Eltax Monitor 3 and weigh 5 kg each. Think I'll go with something like 40-50% and see how it sounds.
