My new custom made polished black AV stand

Just got my new polished black AV stand that my Dad made up for me the other week and thought I would share with you.

Measures in at 1500mm x 600mm x 600mm.

TV is a Panasonic 50" GT30 for reference.

Ha Ha, He designs Kitchens, bedrooms and offices so asked him if he could do something for me, he said he had done loads of TV stands for people before and would sort it no problem.

Must admit I was amazed when he turned up with it!

Told him to forget doing kitchens and start making more of these instead!

Rather than forgetting kitchens, he should just add these to his portfolio.

Cheers,

Martin.

Was going to get it done in solid oak but her indoors wants polishd black speakers so done the stand in polished black to match.

Should look great when everything is inside it, plenty of room aswell which was the main thing.

Just could'nt find anything anywhere that fitted the bill, not many big AV stands around.

true! im looking at similar and they seem to be around £500! but i need glass doors to make my AV stuff baby/toddler friendly

i think i will just build my own. not sure how to get the lovely finish though? maybe matt would suit us better anyway to match the B&Ws

The finish is high gloss black vynal wrap like you see on new kitchen doors only the unit I had built was made from 30mm not 18mm like on doors.

The unit I was looking at was nearly £1400 for the size I wanted, could'nt find anything big enough or the look I wanted for £500!

I was going to get doors on it but prefered the look of it being open.

To build the same unit I have would be done for around £750, would be cheaper if it wasn't 30mm.

Its made from MDF?

I think a good timber yard could cut that all out for about£70.00?

Add in some nice quality fixings etc : £20.00 so it will all slot together and tighten up

How much to get each section "wrapped "? Or even sprayed painted ?

Might make a good "project" !

Nice! Now you just need to fill it

How much did this cost to put together?

Was that one of the BDI stands? I'm looking for a TV stand at the moment and they are the only ones that I've found which look really nice and are large enough for my AV equipment

I can't remember exactly the make who it was, but even the expensive ones weren't exactly what I wanted.

Getting it custom made meant I have exact equal gaps between amp, blu ray and sky box which just makes it look that much better I think.

It's actually the BX6 floorstanders with BX2 as rears, the Mrs wanted bigger speakers than the RX6, thought they looked to small next to the unit.
