Hi there,

Im looking for a nice hi fi rack for my new hi fi setup -

I need shelves for the following :

CD player
Amp
Turntable

And probably best to have a couple of shelves free "just in case"!

Can anyone recommend me one?

Ever thought about a diy Flexirack? If you are even moderately competent with a drill and jigsaw then it could be the perfect solution!

Myself and drills/jigsaws would be better left unacquinted - im bloody awful at things like that..

I also need a new rack, as my existing rack (Jamo Tripos) is too wobbly.
Best solution wrt sonic improvement?
I think that would be getting three trays (each slightly wider and longer than the component and quite shallow, say 3 inches deep).
Now get some sterile sand from Early Learning Center.
Bake the sand in the oven to dry it out.
Now fill the trays with the sand, level to nearly the top.
Place components on top of each "sand tray".
Excellent isolation should give great results (might be a bit messy and won't look that amazing though).

Don't know whether you're looking for price, looks, function or performance. So here's some thoughts. I've had lots of racks over the years from steel to composite materials. Most racks are steel and glass simply because these look nice and are relitively cheap and easy to manufacture. If this is your poison (looks) then Atacama are a good bet, also check out Futureglass, these address resonace issues (which is a good thing to do) more expensive but probably one of the better metal glass combos. I would recommend using these with RDC cones, which are very very good. The best rack that I've come across and currently use is the Clearlight RDC Aspekt Rack, which isn't cheap at £550, but on a pure audiophile level really good. Its for the hard core as only 3 or 4 shelf versions are available but the results are really good.
