You might struggle. I was in Ikea yesterday and seen this stand. The shelve height is only about 150mm. There isnt much room to drop it. Google Ikea Hackers with the tv stand name.

thanks mate, i will have a spare shelf when i reduce it from 3 to 2 but i have heard they are hollow and i wont get the finished edge if i cut it up.
