Plasma TV onto TV Unit

Hi all

Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on attatching a 30kg Plasma screen onto a custom TV unit that i was planning on building sometime next year?

I wanted to build something similar to the units you can get from IKEA where theirs a back peice of wood for where you can attatch a TV too.

My guess is you just attatch a normal Plasma TV bracket (thats ment for a wall) onto the back panel wood and thats basicly it?

Would that be strong enough to hold 30kg?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi sonysean

There's no simple answer to that question, the ability of the stand to support the TV will depend on the materials and fixings you use to construct it. What I can tell you is that we have This Bracket with a 50" screen attached to it in our shop that is attached to a display we have which is basically an MDF back board, and that is perfectly stable. I would suggest that you use MDF as opposed to solid wood, as it iis a more stable substance and therefore mutch less likely to split or warp over time.

Thanks

Paul
