Ikea, Dwell , Habitat- anyone else?

Audio visual unit at www.habitat.co.uk

i really like that, but don't fancy spending £400 on a stand ( in the past 5 years i have gone through 4 stands) that i may change again!

Can any one recommend a similar unit cheaper or shop that sells similar items?

Can't fault ikea price-wise, also as u can see from other posts in this topic, even modifiable if not 100% suitable out the box. See my post in the other thread on this topic for a sub £50 alternative, ikea Lack, but there are numerous others there at reasonable price!

Good luck with your quest

Hi,

That kind of thing does tend to be fairly expensive, take a look at the Jahnke Power Racks, Ateca Monaco and Techlink Ovid OV95W for cheaper alternatives. Did you want something in white?

Hi

thanks for your links, I like white as the room is small and the walls are white so i think the illusion of space helps. Also i prefer eveything being hidden out of sight looks smarter.

Annoys me that its £399 and is flat pack! I would expect it ready made at that price!

I don't think you are going to find anything of that quality for much less unless you wait for the sales or 2nd hand/ebay/gumtree.

See if your local carpenter can give you a good cash deal for a custom made unit.

Lots of alternatives if you are willing to spend more though
In approx price order:

Wickes
Argos
Ikea
Homebase
Next
www.jali.co.uk - custom made yours will be about £350!!
Lots Road or other antique auction houses £150 - £5000+
