Cheap alternative to Quadraspire QAVX stand?

HI,

Need help, I have been looking for ages for a 3 unit wide 3 shelf stand capable of holding a bunch of very large heavy units and so far the only thing I have been able to find in the UK is the Quadrspire QAVX see here:Quadraspire - AV Racks / AV Stands / AV Furniture / TV Stands / Plasma Stands
Just to give an example on the size weights for the bootom shelf would include (WxHxD)cm:

43x24x55 20-30Kg
43x21x44 20-30Kg
43x20x36 15-20Kg

Middle nothing special three vcr size wieght units

Top 55Kg TV

Unfortunately a quick spec up of the QAVX gives a price of £1,050 which is just way to much.

I have found the much more reasonably priced and better looking IMHO StudioTech HF-33 here:Plasma Component Racks | HF-33 | Audio Video Furniture | AV Furniture
Only $500~£300 but of course it's only available in the USA and at 93 pouds in weight isn't really economical to ship.

So anyone know anything similar that's UK available?

Re: Cheap alternative to Quadraspire QAVX stand?

Hi,

Take a look at the BDI Deploy Max range-

They quote the bottom shelf is capable of supporting 68kg but BDI are usually conservative with their recommendations, there is also the Spectral PL182-

This stand is avaialble with or without a cantilever bracket, the glass colour and the shelf heights are customisable, the price of these units is between £600 and £800 depending on the exact specification.

I will try and source some other options for you, if I find anything I will let you know.

Best regards

Re: Cheap alternative to Quadraspire QAVX stand?

Cheers Paul,

Have looked at the whole BDI range and it's a case of so close but not quite.

The space is a bit tight, in fact the depth is way over but I might get away with it if I left out the back board but can't tell without knowing the spcing of the back braces. However I'm well over on the weight, I actually edited my post downwards as it seemed to much, I'm sure I estimated a combined weight for the 3 things on the bottom self of 66Kg. The BDI Deploy doesn't have enough shelf height, the Icon does but only takes 45Kg on the bottom (Icon 9428/9429), though I would probably get away with the overload (maybe) it's also £700. Both the StudioTech and Quadraspire can handle over 100Kg+ per shelf so no issues there. I really want the StudioTech it's the right design/price $500~£300 but not available in the UK.

Thanks.

Re: Cheap alternative to Quadraspire QAVX stand?

Hi,

Have you seen the BDI Deploy 9629 and the BDI Deploy 9639, these ones have a height adjustable middle shelf so I think these might do the trick for you.

Re: Cheap alternative to Quadraspire QAVX stand?

Yep seen the deploy I even emailed to find out what heights the adjustable shelves could give and it's not enough, seems a 24cm high component is just to big. Plus the depth is still an issue to because the back is not open, I don't actually need a 50cm+ deep shelf because the unit can hang out the back but with leads etc it's probably going to be 55cm+ and the BDI shelf depth is only 44cm. One of the reasons the Quadraspire and studiotech design solves that problem. If the StudioTech was available in the UK I would have bought it already but I'm not paying a £1000+ for the Quad.

Re: Cheap alternative to Quadraspire QAVX stand?

Ok thanks, though don't put yourself out, I really didn't want to spend more than £500 and I can't see Quad doing a 50% discount.

If it wasn't so heavy (93 pounds), big and expensive to ship I would try and get a StudioTech stand freight forwarded from the US.
