42" plasma stand behind existing unit

Hope this explantion makes sense, basically I need a cantilever stand for a Panasonic 42" to fit behind my existing unit.
The TV stand will be flat against a wall (which has a window in it, hence no wall mount), and the existing wooden unit will be in front of it.
Now a projector screen comes down in front of the plasma, so ideally the plasma needs to be mounted no more than 4" from the wall, I've looked at a lot of the stands and the seem to mount the screen much to far away.
The only one I've found so for is the Alphason ST600 which looks like it may be OK but I can't find any measurments for screen height and distance from the wall.

Hope someone can give me some ideas.

The TV can't sit on the existing unit due to a centre speaker.

Thanks

Re: 42" plasma stand behind existing unit

There is one stand on the market that is specifically designed for what you are asking: BDI - Arena 9972 | Optional BDI TV Mount Cantilever Bracket | BIG AV

The main difficulty you would have with using a normal cantilever TV stand is the clearance. The BDI arena is designed with a minimal 5cm clearance required under your existing unit. The Alphason has a wooden base under the glass base so you are looking around 10cm from the floor.

If that is a bit expensive you should also consider the Aquila FAV524:
Aquila - FAV-S24R 32 37 40 42 46 50 Inch TV Stand Cantilever | BIG AV Which when built without the two floating shelves provides the same function, but only needs 4cm clearance for the base to slide under your existing unit.

Re: 42" plasma stand behind existing unit

Thanks for the info, had seen the BDI but it was going to cost more than the TV.

The current stands pretty high theres a standard height power amp underneath. The Aquila looks OK is the upright at the very back of the circular base though? Otherwise it would probably be too far away from the wall?

Re: 42" plasma stand behind existing unit

Hi,

The distance between the main mounting column and the back of the oval base is just 9cm, it is located very near the back of the base.

Hope this helps.

Re: 42" plasma stand behind existing unit

Thanks for the help Paul, I'll have to measure up.

I assume the optimum stand without shelf Optimum - LY1931/BK | Tall Wall Mount Bracket TV Stand | BIG AV wouldn't fit the Panasonic screen?

Hi,

That stand would also be OK.
