Ideal Size??

Ok, I am shortly going to purchase some speakers which have dimensions of
W 260mm and D 340mm.
The stands I was going to get are ideal for them but, as is usual, funds have come into play. So, what dimension of the speaker stand top plate can I get away with as a minimum? I have seen two stands which will fit into my price bracket:-
W165mm, D225m and 2nd set
W165mm, D165mm.
Price range is £60 max.
The other question is, as they are going to be part of a HC set up, whats the general rule of thumb of height of stands for front L + R. Sitting position, sofa.
