Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Hi guys,

I have spent a bit of time trying to find a stand that will accommodate an 8” high centre speaker, AV, 360, ps3 and sky hd box without a wall mounting option. I have seen stands on cabinets but I need to fit a an LX6090 and the centre speaker is a B&W - HTM61 and its 7.8" high so its got to have one shelf / stand that can hold it.

I have looked at the Spectral, BDI and Alivar stuff but nothing stands out. (No pun intended)

Ideally and I might be getting carried away here it but it should be open and the usual gloss black, silver legged affair.

Any other manufactures, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I might have to change my equipment wish list and that would be a compromise! And over a stand?!

I really dont want to spend more than 500 quid

Thanks guys.

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Apollo Hi-Fi Furniture are very nice well made stands to support a 6090 you need a decent size tope glass section probably 10mm rather than the cheaper 6mm on many stands and as they are UK designed AND manufactured they can do custom sizes so drop them a line see what they can do....

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

The plasma section says its suitable for 43" tvs. The deluxe entertainment unit is nice but its not open. I will call them tomorrow and see if they have other options.

Thanks again for the suggestion.
Sid.

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

As they can custom make it you just need them to spec bigger capacity top shelf

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Happy Days. I will call them tomorrow. I might ask them to add another shelf and change the lengths between them to fit my stuff. I never thought it would be this hard!

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Not yet, will call them on Monday and see. Will get back to everyone with my findings. I hope they can do a 4 stand rack with support for 60", otherwise I'm going to pull my hair out!

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Hornydragon,

Just spoke to Ray at Apollo, very nice chap. The plasma stand they have advertised wont hold a 60" but they suggested I put the TV on a top shelf and then have 3 shelves made below.

The problem is if I have it custom made to the above specs its going to cost a minimum of 1200 pounds which is double my budget!! This includes black legs and a piano black finish on 12mm shelves.

If I cant source anything cheaper then I will put the stuff on cardboard boxes until I have cleared my credit card and then give Apollo a call

Thanks for the heads up, its definitely an option, albeit an expensive one.

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Yeah anything custom is going to be pricey but at least you get what you wanted

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

BDI makes some stands that will fit it.

Re: Any Open Cabinet / Stand Experts There?

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your input, I will definitely look into Quadraspire and Custom Design after this post. I got a quote back from Apollo Hifi and they have quoted 930 quid. The stand is very nice but I have gone way over budget with everything else I really need to try and stick to £500 ish.

I have approached a few cabinet makers here in Spain and am waiting for them to get back to me on prices and materials. Apparently the Oak here is rubbish and importing is the best but expensive option. One told me that MDF with a veneer oak type finish would be good enough?! Anyone have nay views on this?

I designed a stand which I have added as an attachment and passed onto local tradesmen here. I will let everyone know how I get on in a few days time!
