Back lighting for floating shelves..any ideas?

I'm looking to put up some floating shelves in the alcoves either side of the chimney breast. I'm sure I've seen somewhere (maybe on the telly?) some lights that go behind each shelf (not underneath) so that that light shines against the wall above and below each shelf. Has anyone seen anything that would be appropriate or have any idea how this could be achieved? Many thanks!
