Stand required for 32" CRT set
Well guys the time has come with my ever expanding collection of Consoles & AV kit it's time to replace the standard stand that came with my TV.
So I've been browsing the usual sites but can only see stands that seem fit for LCD/Plasma sets & nothing that stands out as being a sturdy CRT replacement.
Now the big problem I have is that the set I have weighs a whopping 54Kg & is 55cm deep, So anything I've seen seems to be too narrow & I'm not sure if they would be happy to hold a TV at 54Kg.
So what I was wndering is if anyone can recommend a site or Stand maker that still caters for those of us who havent decided to dump their CRT's
Thanks in advance.
Neil

Re: Stand required for 32" CRT set
Hi Neil
You have an awful lot of kit and I would tend to look at the wooden stands myself. Your biggest isue with modern stands is going to be the depth of your tv, but I am assuming that the depth is caused by the rear of the tube and not the area it needs to sit on.
Hope this helps
Andy

Re: Stand required for 32" CRT set
Hey Andy,
Many thanks for the reply it's much appreciated.
Glad to hear there are still options available to the CRT brigade lol
Lol I did get a bit carried away with the console's I think
Yeah I saw that most will accept weights over 50kg but I was a little concered about the overhang.
Most of what I like are a good 10cms too shallow & I wasnt sure how this would affect the rear of the set.
As you mentioned most of the weight is because of the glass at the front so I was hopeful that it wouldnt cause an issue if it was to hang over the back slightly.
What do you think is an overhang ok at all??
TV will be up against a flat wall as well so I think little chance of it teetering over at all.
Anyway thanks again for your advice & your site link it's much appreciated.
Neil

Re: Stand required for 32" CRT set
Hi
If the TV base is actually flat then I can't see that an overhang of 10cm will cause you any problems, as you are going to have over 40cm in solid contact with the surface of the stand.

Re: Stand required for 32" CRT set
Hey Andy,
Thanks again for the reply.
This is a picture of my actual set in question:
Taken before the console collecting took a hold lol
Anyway I believe it does have a flat bottom so fingers crossed it should ok.
Just need to decide what sort of stand to get now.
Thanks again
Neil
