Blu ray to DSP A2 need help to choose (optical or analogue)

hello, i'm in a bit of a puzzle. i have dsp a2 which works perfectly well with my PS3 via optical connection. obviously, DSP A2 does not have the latest DD TrueHD/DTS HD. i'm thinking of buying a blu ray player. i'm led to believe that if i use blu ray player internal decoder and output to A2 via analogue 5.1 i will have the quality of these new formats. Is this true? if it is true, i'll be looking for blu ray with analogue output. if it is not the case, i'll can just buy any blu ray that performs well. thanks

Yes.

But the quality of the audio obviously depends on how good the processing is on the blue ray player. Plus you need to add the cost of six interconnects.

Re: Blu ray to DSP A2 need help to choose (optical or analogue)

i suppose i would have to invest in a very good blu ray player + good interconnects. a good amplifier upto standard of A2 would cost around £700-£1000. i'm not keen to let go of the A2 as it is working well. an suggestion of a good blu ray player that has got decent decoding ability?

Re: Blu ray to DSP A2 need help to choose (optical or analogue)

i'm no expert mate but i think that BD players are much of a muchness in the price range i'm talking of, i run a Panasonic BD30 through the A2 via an optical lead, sounds good but as we say it wont do the new codecs.
