Can a turntable be plugged to a reciever?

I have recently decided to get a cheap turntable to listen to some old vinyl stuff but im not sure if the denon 1909 or the yamaha 763 can be connected directly to a turntable as I could with my old integrated as it had a mm/mc selector.

Any ideas?

Re: Can a turntable be plugged to a reciever?

The Denon 1909 and below do not offer a phono input. The Denon 2309 and above do.

Re: Can a turntable be plugged to a reciever?

You could get a pre-amp for the turntable VIVANCO PA111-PREA at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc. or CAMBRIDGE AUDIO 540P-SIL at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

Re: Can a turntable be plugged to a reciever?

Just get a cheap pre-amp made for this purpose. As long as your receiver has pre-outs for the right and left channels you're good to go.

High-end: NAD PP3
Good: TC750PP,
OK: Pyle PP-999,
or DIY

Re: Can a turntable be plugged to a reciever?

Use a phono stage and connect that to the inputs on the amp, as I do.

You must find out what cartridge the TT has MM or MC.
