Help to service my Yamaha DSP-AX1

Hi all, I am after some help please.

I have a Yamaha DSP AX1.
It suffers from a problem that the channels are intermittant.

I have been told that this is due to a build up inside the relay contacts.
Looking around the internet I have found the service manual and have been reading through the drawings.

The problem relays (RY501,RY502,RY503,RY727 & RY726) all are DH2TU.

After reading I have removed the top lid and can clearly see all 5 relays BUT they are all sealed with plastic caps (I guess to keep dust out)

What I need is a service center or person to strip the unit and clean or replace the 5 relays.

Can anyone help with this?

The amp was brought by me many years ago from Frank Harvey and was sent in for repair while still under the 2 year warentee, but the problem was not fixed. (would not show up on there test rig)

Any help please as I realy dont want to bin this amp.

Thanks again

Alan

Re: Help to service my Yamaha DSP-AX1

I second this also, I get the same problem. Strangly tapping the back of the amp solves the problem for a while. Have opened it up but it really is a maze of wires and connection that simply just take up to much of my time to take apart and fix to the point where its simply not worth it

Yamaha Music UK Ltd

If you don't want to use a service center then use some short phono leads to join the 'pre out' jacks to the 'main in' jacks. All the relays are, are links between those jacks anyway.

Re: Help to service my Yamaha DSP-AX1

Hi,

I used a Service Center in Miltoin Keynes once for my old Yamaha DSP-AX1, which i have litterary just upgraded to a Onkyo 806.

Anyhow, ill try and find the service details and post them.

I think that service centre in Milton Keynes you talk about is E&M Electronics 01908 375699, they currently have my faulty yamaha amp.
