Componet cable in receiver ?

Hi Guys, currently I have a OPtoma hd70 projector. I ran component cable from the projector to the receiver. I want to have my inputs as HDMI. Will it make a different if my video out is component. I want to have a mix of componet/HDMI sources in my receiver.

Sat+ HDMI
HD dvd=HDMI
Xbox=componet
Wii=componet.

Is my receiver smart enought to switch between the video singles.

I was looking at getting the denon avr 688

Thanks

Re: Componet cable in receiver ?

The Denon AVR-688 doesn't convert from analogue component video input to digital hdmi output. But you are looking at going in the other direction - No av amps as far as I know convert from hdmi input to component output because of the HDCP requirement for hdmi. Over component output you're limited to component, composite or s-video connected amp sources only. So in the case of that particular model, you would have to run both component video cable and a hdmi cable to your projector. Source selection would therefore be by a combination of the amp and projector (- a possible simplification would be to use a learning style remote).

To simplify selection and cabling you would need to use hdmi from amp to projector (instead of component), plus an av amp that does upconversion to hdmi; the Denon AVR1908, for example.
