Which is better Yamaha or Pioneer

Sorry if this post causes some tension but I'm trying to find out which is the better A/VReciever.
Pioneer Elite SC-07 or Yamaha Aventage RX-A3000
My buddy says the ice amps of the Pioneer are vastly superior in every way to the amps in the Yamaha
In 2 channel and all round 5.1 and 7.1 settings
I noticed that Pioneer has stopped using the ice amps in future models of the Elite receivers, so if there so good why stop using them?

one of many threads to which imo there is no right answer. all personal taste as to which sound you prefer. I demo'ed the pioneer and the yamaha when I was last in the market for a receiver. both were clearly great products but in my room and with my speakers the pioneer was too "bright" for me.so I chose the yamaha DSP Z7 which is an awesome receiver and sounds even better with my new GX speakers.

Pointless question I'm afraid. Yamaha owners are hardly going to say Pioneer or vice versa. Read through the owners threads and perhaps you will gain an insight into why they chose one over the other but as most people buy online and don't demo, you might struggle to find the answer.

Use forum opinion and reviews as a guide and armed with this go to the dealers and get a listen and get hands on.

Thanks for the replies guys..
Ya that's what I figured no one wants to say anything bad about their investment..
I guess what I'm really looking for is more of a comparison between older avr with less features compared to a newer gen avr, of course high end avr.
Like is the amp section in a Pioneer SC-07 from 2-3 yrs ago better than the amp section of Yamaha RX-A2000 or 3000.
I mean where is the line drawn between price vs performance, much higher priced gear does not nessacerally mean better.

Hi Jhayman,
If I am not mistaken the A3000 is equivalent to the RX-V3067 which I bought earlier this year. I demoed the Pioneer LX 83 and LX 85 and yamaha rx-v3067. To be quite honest, I thought that they were all good and would be happy to own anyone. Feature wise they are all pretty stacked. Pioneer has a slicker GUI for the menus.
I would have bought anyone. To my ears they were all good in the end it came down to a matter of budget. What was most I could get for 1000 Euros and after weeks of looking I found a great deal for the RX-V3067, the Pioneer LX 85 would have cost me 500 Euros more. In the end did not think it was worth it. The RX-V3067 was heavily discounted because of the new A3010.
BTW I really recommend buying AV receivers when the current range is being replaced. This way you get an excellent product at often heavily reduced prices and to be honest normally with AV receivers there are really not much between the current receivers and the new.

Cheers,
Wayden

And just to add my two penneth you would be better asking over on avsforum which is promarily north american as opposed to here which is mostly uk/european. Those model numbers aren't from here albeit extremely similar to the european one's and not many people here will have any experience with your speakers.
