Re: turning it up, I still dot think it is correct...

The sound on sky / iPod at 30 is great, but extremely quiet on blu ray

My levels are different too which I find frustrating. I also have a problem that when I turn mine to Net/USB the volume automatically goes to -6db which is a bit loud. Happens every time!

The volume setting is saved when you set a quick select function. Try changing the volume to what you prefer, and set the NET/USB quick select again, by holding down the quick select button on the remote for a few seconds, (until "Memory" appears on the display). When you select NET/USB next, the volume should be at the level you saved.

The Denon no longer supports Napster and its official Ipad app wont work with it. Has anybody managed to get any of the third party Apps like Deremote to work with Napster?

Admittedly I have the older App and haven't upgraded to the newer yet so don't know if that works with it.

Hey all, just a quick question.

Does any one know how I am able to use my 5.1 set up to just use the front and back (Not side surround) I would like to use this for my Playstation 3. I have tried just plugging in my speakers to the rear surround but no sound happens. And when I use the auto set up and plus my speakers in the front and back it says something about caution no side speakers and I can't continue with the set up.

I have my speakers on the front and back of my room and I can't modify them because of the Wharfedale brackets are a pain to put up.

Speaker set up

x4 Wharfedale 10.1
Wharfedale 10.cc
Wharfedale powercube

A 5.1 is usually made from 3 front speakers and 2 side surrounds and a subwoofer. A 7.1 would be 2 extra speakers behind you. By the sounds of what you are saying youve connected the surrounds into the rears. In a 5.1 Ideally the surrounds should be 90-115degrees from your listening position when sat facing the tv. For the back surrounds turn around and face directly the other way for a new starting point of 0 degrees and its 30 degrees for each left back and right back so theres 60 degree angel between the 2.
A 5.1 with the surround speakers behind you is a bad set up and wont sound as good as you want or expect. So if you really cant take them down.. Buy 2 more speakers and place them on the sides and use the others as rears. Position the surrounds much higher than your fronts and DO NOT direct the tweaters to your ears only the fronts should be aimed directly.

Thanks for the information yes I have all the correct speakers for a 5.1 set up. And my back (Side) speakers are placed correctly, I was just wondering if I was able to use the surround back instead of the surround side whilst gaming it would help me about a lot. I would conceder buying more speakers but I don't have the funds at the moment.

Ok well it could be afew things...if the ps3 isnt displaying multi channel then igo to the Ps3 sound settings in system setting but more than likely you have the speakers wired to the wrong terminals. A 5.1 signal will come through the fronts and the surrounds.
If it just a simple question of is there a setting on the amp to send the signal to the rears instead of the surrounds. I dont know.
Easy solution would be to wire the rear speaker as you say, to the surround terminals for now.

Hi, a quick question, I think a setting has been changed somewhere on something, but I have this amp - with it on Pass through in standby mode and watching DVD's through the PS3 the audio backing track will come through but no voices. It never used to do this, does anybody have any ideas what could've been changed at all?

Might sound stupid but is the centre still wired properly?

It is inadvisable to have HDMI audio passthrough go to a TV anyway. Using it reduces audio to what your TV can process rather than what the amp can handle and TVs just cannot handle the formats AV amps can. Your TV is very unlikely to be able to process 5.1 audio so how can it know about the dialogue associated with a centre channel if dialogue would ordinarily be downmixed into 2 channels at source if your TV's EDID is being used to determine what type of audio to send. The issue is more likely to be with the source or your TV.

The problem is that its been working fine until recently, and I believe and setting on something has changed. Source is PS3 and TV is a 42" Toshiba Regza

If anyone is interested the Napster app on IPad will stream directly to the receiver.

I have a two denon receivers on my network and it will let you choose which one you want to stream to. No need to use denons app at all.

Docs

Hi,
does the 1912 come with a paper copy of the user guide like the 1910 did or does it come with a CD/DVD or are the docs accessed/downloaded via the Denon website ?

It comes with a paper "Getting Started" manual, 16 pages. But the full "Owners Manual" is on CD, 134 pages. It's pretty good, with hot links to other sections, and navigation buttons.

What is the source component and how is it connected to your amp? How is the amp connected to your display?

Make sure you rurn your TV to the appropriate HDMI input (the input you are using to connect the amp with). If correctly selected and you still don't get a video signal, try a different HDMI cable between the amp and the TV. You may also want to ensure the existing HDMI cable is securely seated at the TV and amp ends of the cable.

Apple routers issue

Hi guys, i've been trying for several hours and seems impossible to connect my new Denon AVR 1912 with Airport Express nor Time Capsule.
I tried with a D-Link router to check if the problem was on the AVR, but everything worked perfectly with d-link. I even upgraded firmware, but when trying to connect it via any of these Apple products i keep getting the no network message.
I also tried deactivating the DHCP option on the AVR and configuring manually the ip, and on the airport utility did the same, i reserved that ip for the denon and entered the AVR mac adress. Same message

Help please!!!

Silly question but worth checking but have you restarted both devices?

I have found this helps when I have issues like this on other devices.

Did a bit of Googling and found this

The Airport Extreme device is in Bridge Mode, which explains why only one device is able to connect to internet. Bridge Mode tells the router to bridge the connection from the modem.

Open Airport Utility, select the Airport Extreme and click Edit. Then, navigate to the Network tab and change Router Mode to DHCP and NAT.

Let me know if it works

That s the way i have my configuration.. My time capsule si the central router, and it manages DHCP and NAT. When i try everything with the d link i do use the time capsule in bridge mode and connect the denon to the d link.. So the one that manages in this case the DHCP and NAT would be the d link and thats what i want to avoid.
Thanks for your help!!

Do all your other devices connect to the apple kit? Are any of them hard wired or all wireless

Not what you will want to try but have you done a factory reset on the router?
